How a Rug Makes a Room

This post is sponsored by Revival Rugs, but the opinions in the blog are all my own.

I strongly believe that a rug has a huuuuuge impact on a room. If you want to add a pop of color, add a rug. If you want to soften a room, add a rug. If you need an anchor piece to tie a room together, ADD A RUG! There really is nothing else that can transform a room they way a rug does. You can take the floor from being boring to being the highlight of the space.

I want to back up my claims by showing you what a game changer this stunning Fabrice rug from Revival Rugs is in three different rooms. Every single room is a different style, different color scheme, and different size. One single rug transforms them all! Crazy right?!

I am starting with my favorite room in the house, the sunken living room. This room is the first thing you see when you walk up the stairs. The fireplace, large windows, a 9 ft fiddle leaf fig, and my very fave vintage pieces fill this room, but it is a large room and it’s the exit to our backyard. It gets a lot of traffic. We have this cream colored carpet throughout our entire home. One day this carpet will be gone, but until then I needed to find a way to keep the carpet looking clean. Best way to do that, especially with white carpet, is to cover it! And I am partial to covering my carpet with rugs.

Here is the before. A simple clean space. When you have a large room with large pieces of furniture you need to anchor the space. When you don’t have an anchoring piece the room can feel a bit scattered and incomplete. Adding a rug pulls all those pieces together and makes the room fit as one cohesive space.

Now, here is the room with the rug I chose from Revival Rugs. They had so many options, but I was immediately drawn to this one. I couldn’t get it out of my head the entire time I was searching their site. The edge of the Fabrice has the golden tan tones that really connects all the gold in the room. The rich blue ties in the couches without it being overwhelming. The touches of pinks, purples, and greens bring out the colors in the art work on the walls. With hints of all the colors on a light cream color base it flows seamlessly with the carpet! I couldn’t have found a more perfect piece.

I love the rug in the living room, but once I got it I realized just how versatile it was! It’s a tad bigger than 6×9 and that size can fill so many different kinds of rooms. I recently revamped this dining room and I loooove having a rug under my dining table. I know some of you reading may think I’m a crazy person. A rug under a table that we actually eat at??? Yep! You can see without a rug the glass table and chairs look very bland against the tile. Now, it’s not all about looks there is function to it too. Without a rug my table slides all over the place and the metal chairs leave gray marks on the tile. This drives me absolutely crazy.

Here is the space with the rug! It, yet again, makes the gold pop and really brings life to the table. It brightens the floor a ton. The chairs slide in and out smoothly and the table stays in place. I definitely have to vacuum the rug often, but to me it’s totally worth it.

Finally, we have my bedroom. I personally believe every bedroom should have a rug. It is a soft place for your feet to land first thing in the morning. This is the room in the home that almost always needs something to anchor the bed and tie in the color scheme. I mean, I do change my throw pillows, blankets, and sheets often, but the wall is black and the bedding is mostly white. For me, the skies the limit on my rug color and style! I can go bold with pattern like the Maanus rug, but if you are more of a neutral color person no problem! Use a a light or subtle rug like the Afilou or a monochrome rug like the Carolos.

Adding the rug in here brings so much more interest to the space. It is art for my floor! I loooove how it completes the room and style. It brings so much texture and design to the floor and really ties in the accents colors. Plus it’s a fun pop to see at the end of the hall. Now I am super tempted to keep it here!

Have I convinced you that a rug can make a world of a difference in a room? I highly recommend Revival Rugs to fulfill your rug dreams. They have a huuuuuge selection of vintage, one of a kind rugs in all kinds of shapes and sizes that you are able to see in your own home with their View in Your Room tool! Take a photo of your room or three rooms like me, ha ha, and then pick the rug you want to try in there! It will give you a visual for how the rug will look in your space. Buying a rug can be a very personal purchase and being able to see it in my space made a huge difference for me! It’s like you get to try it before you buy it.

    1. Thank you Misty! I felt like it was too! How is a rug that’s probably 50-60 years old made for a home in 2020?? I don’t know, but now it’s mine FOREVER!😂

  1. Where did you get that couch? Is there any way I could find something similar to it? (-:
