Beetlejuice Tablescape

1 year ago I had the most EPIC secondhand score yet, this vintage Ibex ram head dining table!! I am a big lover of Halloween and once I got this table I’ve been dreaming of creating a Beetlejuice inspired tablescape for it. The ram heads paired with these striped chairs, that I also score secondhand 1 month after the table, just screams Beetlejuice to me. Plus, the dinner party scene in the movie has always been a favorite of mine. I, myself, am strange and unusual.

Back in July I attended the Haven Conference for the 3rd time. Each year they host The Home Depot Orange Tank competition where attendies can pitch to have the opportunity to work with The Home Depot. This year the pitches were for different holiday categories and when I saw the Halloween category I knew I had to pitch it! It was a goal for me to just send the pitch, but I truly was so shocked when they chose me! I am beyond honored and excited to get to create something I’m so passionate about. I really do love Halloween and all the spooky things. Getting the opportunity to work with Home Depot is so huge for me. I knew I could take this idea to the next level working with them!

My amazing friend Lindsey and I at Haven right after I won the award!

I started by looking at HomeDepot.com and they have a whole slew of home décor and kitchenware! The bonus is that they look great for Halloween but can be used all year round. Black is definitely an every day color for me so that made it so easy. Below is the moodboard I created using what I found online. I wanted it to be fun, yet sophisticated.

The centerpiece needed to scream Beetlejuice. So, I made a cute DIY striped pedestal planter using these items.

I taped the pot at every inch to create the stripes and spray painted it glossy black. Then, glued the two pots together and Viola! Being a plant lover this felt so fitting. A fun and unique pot that really fit the theme and held a plant too! And this Aloe plant reminded me of this scene in the movie. Full striped pot tutorial blog coming soon.

Now, It’s SHOWTIME!!

What do you think? I love all these pieces together! I’ve been wanting black stainless flatware for a long time so I was excited it popped up at the very top of the search and they are absolutely perfect for a Halloween dinner. They also have a very matte finish which I love. These black and gold stoneware dinner plates and salad plates are so high-end feeling. They are thick and the finish is so pretty with that touch of gold on the rim.

There were surprisingly a lot of goblet options, but these coupes I knew would be perfect to double as a shrimp cocktail bowl like in the movie. These are a great size, light weight, but not too delicate.

These black iron candle holders have a very Beetlejuice feel and are so modern. The squiggle lines remind me of the sandworm scene. They come in sets of 3 so I ordered two sets plus the candles. They really bring in that spooky candlelight feel.

I got this 2-ghost set to represent the ghosts in Beetlejuice when they put their sheets on to scare the family. These are meant to be outdoor ghosts with stakes in the bottom, but it was a simple fix to get a large pedestal planter, fill with dirt, and stick them in. Now, I can use them anywhere inside for Halloween!

I loved how beautiful everything looked in the daylight, but….

I got some dry ice and shrimp cocktail to really set the scene and get into that true Beetlejuice dinner feel. The candlelight adds so much too! I also got this smoke machine that has an amber glow to it.

As much as I loved all this, I knew we could level it up just a bit more…. Let’s turn on the juice and see what shakes loose!

I grabbed a lamp and added this blue light bulb. In the movie there is a blue glow in the background. This gave that perfect finishing touch! Now, we can really scare the mortals away.

I know just as much about the supernatural as I do about interior design… Now, who wants to come over and sing Day-O and eat some shrimp???

I hope you found some inspiration for your next spooky dinner. I love that I was able to mix my vintage pieces with this fun new table decor. It turned out even better that I could’ve hoped. Happy Halloween!

Cheers
